Weekly Photo Challenge: Fleeting

It’s a bit of a cheat, because what of childhood isn’t fleeting, but when I look at this photo of Juno from last weekend I see a girl who is fearless, indefatigable, who thinks the world is hers to conquer, with or without help.

That, in and of itself, is fleeting.

Soon enough she’ll grow to worry about looking awkward or silly or clueless or chubby or any of the thousand other insults we default to, reflexively, when we look in the mirror.  She’ll figure out that kisses don’t heal broken anythings, and she’ll wonder why she ever thought they did.

But for now … for right now … the world is hers.
