Weekly Photo Challenge: Renewal

The animals hibernate; the fields lie fallow.

Likewise, nothing brings about a renewal of spirit in a child like a well-timed, hard-earned nap.

More at The Daily Post weekly photo challenge.

And!  Some bonus content that I captured too late for last week’s challenge (Geometry).  I found that I was constantly on the lookout for “environmental geometry” this week, and was probably more excited than I should have been when I found this pattern in a grilled cheese sandwich:

If the goal of the WordPress photo challenges is to get us to see our world from new and unanticipated perspectives, I have to say: mission accomplished.

Comments

  1. Sleep tight little one!

  2. yes a nap is a good renewal tool!

  3. I’d kill for a nap right now. My four year old won’t let me!

  4. Precious…. I miss my kids when they were that little!!

  5. I need that sort of renewal. Wish I had a buggy ;)

    • Even better: a baby carrier! Every time I bundled one of my kids to my chest I thought, “Man, I would love to be carried around like this … to fall asleep listening to someone’s heartbeat … doesn’t get better than that.”

  6. Adorable! Wish I got naptime still

  7. Cherish these moments…now my two are grown and gone I miss them

    • You no doubt remember how hard it is to cherish stuff in the moment … but I don’t disagree. Just this morning I was kvetching about the irritation of having to dress two small kids in so much (SO. MUCH.) winter gear … and yet … what is my purpose here if not to be of service to those who need me?

      • Very true…we rush and we lament the rush and then…suddenly [and I do mean suddenly], it’s gone and then you find yourself almost mourning its passing.

  8. She’s lovely, isn’t it amazing how they can fall asleep with both food and a drink in their hands?

  9. Ah the picture brings back memories of when my daughter was that age, nap for her meant renwal for her mother or myself :)

  10. awwwww

  11. What a little sweetie! That cheese sandwich is very geometric indeed. :)

  12. Incredibly precious :-)

  13. And waking up renewed, the child will be a joy to be with :)

  14. The baby is a perfect example of renewal – and I love the pattern on the sandwich! ;-)

  15. Sweet dreams little one…

  16. I sure would be renewed by a nap around this time every day! She’s just precious!!

  17. annetjiesepoems says:

    Sweet!

  18. Aaaahhhh. I also called my Menu tab for photos 1000 Words. But you get to keep it. Because you actually post pictures, and do the photo challenges, which I rarely do. Love the sandwich pic.

  19. I instantly knew that you must be living in the other hemisphere; our garden is less “renewal” than “funereal” these days.
