Near a simple chain-link fence, Toronto’s Greenwood Subway Yards stretch far into the distance:

great perspective on near and far
Thanks! Our subway system is miniscule compared to other major cities (London, Paris, Madrid, etc.) so it’s also somewhat ironic: can’t go too far on the TTC! :-)
And an excellent sense of color, too.
Thanks!
Nice. I like the colors here
Thank you! Another iPhone snap — I’m surprised at how well it turned out, colour- and focus-wise.
Very nice, Jeni.
Thanks! :-)
Great shot, Jeni!
Thank you!
very cool!
Thanks! It’s not that glam a place — kind of pretty at dusk. When blurred. :-)
A very effective image… I think this type of composition is strong and colorful. Ahhhh yes… the good ol’ TTC… I remember it well. And I also remember the clanging of the trolleys on Dundas at 5:00 AM! Your photographs allow me to reminisce about a wonderful time in my life. It’s a good feeling.
Glad to be of service! :-) I’ve lived here since ’94 — mostly in North Toronto, then a brief and ‘meh’ stopover in North York proper, been in the east end for a few years now. So many new neighborhoods have emerged in the city in such a short time. King and Dufferin is now rebuilt and called “Liberty Village” … the old Gooderham and Worts area condo-ized and rebranded as “The Distillery District” … Leslieville (east Riverdale) and even Parkdale are well into the process of can’t-afford-to-live-there gentrification. My dad, who is still south of 70, grew up in Ajax and remembers when parts of the (now 16-lane 401) were still a dirt road. The inexorable creep of progress …
I like this a lot. ;-)
Thanks so much!
Wow, fantastic photo! Great interpretation on near and far! G.
Thank you !
Great shot!
Thanks!.
Nicely done.
.Thank you!
oooh, i love the colours! did you enhance it in any way??
Thanks! I cropped it slightly but no colour tweaks… just sunset lighting and iPhone intuition.
nice!
great photo Jeni
.Thanks!
cool!
. Thanks!
Awesome! Great composition, color, and texture.
Thanks! It’s a completely non-descript little corner of the city but has its beautiful moments.
…and colors!
Near and yet so far. I like the idea of being captured behind the fence. Great image.
Thanks! It’s a good 50-foot drop to the tracks below, so I like the idea of the fence, too. :-)
This photo is so striking!
Thank you! Not bad for an iPhone, I think!
No kidding!
